In the town of Tianmenkou near Dabie Mountain, two families of Xue and Hang have generations of enmity. In order to tarnish Xue’s name, Hang Jiufeng has an adulterous affair with Xue’s abandoned daughter-in-law Acai. However, Jiufeng is attracted by Acai’s strong temperament and falls in love with her. Shortly the storm of revolution sweeps to the town. Both Acai and Jiufeng joined the red army and go through countless tests of life and death. During wartime, they sometimes get together and sometimes are parted. They never mention love buried in the bottom of their heart, but keep alive the hope. After the entire country is liberated, Acai goes to the city alone, while Jiufeng stays in the town because his comrades in arms are at rest there.`
